Fill Those Fish Boxes: A brief lesson on the unique Pacific red snapper

In the photo you can see yelloweye, halibut, lingcod, black cod, and of course salmon!
The oldest yelloweye (Pacific red snapper) rockfish on record was estimated to be a whopping 121-years-old, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. These spectacularly colored fish range from orange-yellow to orange-red and are easily recognized by the bright yellow color of their eyes. They are one of the larger rockfish species reaching lengths of up to 36 inches. Yelloweye have several spines on their head which is venomous, but not toxic.
You can easily distinguish juvenile fish from adults by two white stripes that run along the body with white or black tipped fins.
